Your monthly tuition is a “package” which includes: reserving weekly lesson time, organizing recitals, communicating with parents, scheduling lessons, purchasing student rewards, providing appropriate music, and publicizing student achievements.
Schedule & Tuition
The official studio year starts August 4th and includes 35 lessons per lesson day. Monthly tuition is $112 regardless of start date or how many lessons fall in the month. A $10 late fee applies if tuition isn’t received by the first lesson of the month. Fees are non-refundable.
Materials & Activities
Charges for materials and activities are listed on the practice calendar. Payments may be combined in one check to "Reid Spratlin Business."
Suspension or Termination
One-month notice is required to avoid payment.
Lesson Length & Locations
Middle school students and older are encouraged to take 45-minute lessons (1.5x rate). Lessons at students' homes are available for an additional charge.
Cancellations & Makeups
Lessons must be canceled with 48 hours' notice for a makeup. For illness or emergency, notify by 7 AM on the day of the lesson. Makeups must be completed by July 31. Optional summer lessons are $32 per lesson.
Practicing
- Students must have a well-tuned acoustic piano or full-featured keyboard.
- 1st grade: at least 15 min/day, 5 days/week; 2nd grade and above: at least 30 min/day, 5 days/week.
- Parents should provide a quiet, consistent practice environment and supervise a portion of the practice time.
- Practice should include accuracy in notes and rhythm to be effective.
- Grades and reward eligibility are tracked in the student notebook.
Activities
- Sonata/Sonatina Festival: $25 Fee, Sat. Oct. 25, 10 AM – Open recital format. Adjudicator: Mandy Enman
- Christmas Concert: Sat. Dec. 20, 10 AM – Solos and duets. Memorization not required.
- Spring Performance: Sat. May 23, 10 AM – Family-friendly recital.
- Master Class: $25 Fee, Date TBD – Advanced students, classroom-style, guests welcome.
- Festival of Music Periods: $30 Fee, Sat. Mar. 28, 10 AM – Memorized performance of two contrasting period works. Adjudicator: Macy Marie Fox
Festivals are non-competitive and judged against a standard of excellence with ratings of Superior, Excellent, Good, or comments only.
